Get cited by ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) makes AI find, cite and recommend your business. It's the new SEO for the era of instant answers. We work with businesses across the United States, with clients in Orlando, Clermont and Miami, and in London, Dubai, Lisbon, Toronto and Singapore. Pick your city.
What is GEO?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the work of optimising a company's digital presence so that AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers find it, cite it and recommend it. It is the equivalent of SEO for the era of ready-made answers: instead of competing for clicks in a list of links, the business competes for the citation inside the answer the AI writes.

How to get your business to show up in ChatGPT, in 5 steps
AI cites brands it understands and trusts. This is the order that works, from what unblocks everything to what compounds over time.
- 01
Allow the AI crawlers in robots.txt
Step zero, and the most overlooked: if GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and ClaudeBot are blocked, nothing else matters, because the AI cannot even read your site. Allow both the crawler that indexes and the agent that fetches live during a conversation.
- 02
Make the business an identifiable entity
Declare in structured data who you are: name, registration number, address, phone, logo and the links to your official profiles (sameAs). Without it, your site, your Instagram and your Google profile are unrelated fragments. The AI has no way to know they are the same company, and it does not recommend what it cannot identify.
- 03
Answer the questions customers ask AI
Write the questions the way a customer phrases them and answer in the first sentence, self-contained. AI extracts passages that make sense on their own, away from the page. A visible FAQ with FAQPage markup is the highest-return format.
- 04
Build verifiable reputation
Answered reviews, third-party mentions and data with a named source. AI cross-references sources before recommending: content with an attributed statistic gets cited far more often than the same claim without one.
- 05
Keep information identical across every channel
Name, address, phone, category and description matching on the site, the Google Business Profile, social profiles and anywhere else you exist. Disagreement between channels is the fastest way to lose the trust of a system that cross-references sources.
Frequently asked questions about GEO and AI visibility
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO is the work of optimising a company's digital presence so that AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers find it, cite it and recommend it. It is the equivalent of SEO for the era of ready-made answers: instead of competing for clicks in a list of links, the business competes for the citation inside the answer the AI writes.
What is the difference between SEO, AEO and GEO?
SEO is ranking in the list of links. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is owning the direct answer: the featured snippet, the “people also ask” box, the reply a voice assistant reads aloud. GEO is being cited inside the text a generative AI writes. All three rest on the same foundation: clear, structured, sourced content that stays consistent across channels. 4RED works all three together because separating them makes little practical sense.
How do I get my business to show up in ChatGPT?
AI cites brands it understands and trusts. Four requirements: a site that clearly explains what you do and for whom; content that answers the questions customers ask AI; verifiable reputation, meaning reviews, mentions and credible sources; and identical information across every channel (site, Google, Maps, social). Step zero is allowing the AI crawlers in robots.txt: if GPTBot, PerplexityBot and ClaudeBot are blocked, nothing else matters.
How do I know whether AI already cites my business?
By asking it, systematically. That is what 4RED's Visibility X-Ray does: it puts the questions your customer would ask, such as “which company do you recommend for X near me?”, to the AI models and records whether your brand appears, how often, and who appears in your place. The free version takes minutes; the full version covers 5 AI models, 30 questions and 3 competitors.
How long does it take for AI to start citing my business?
Weeks to a few months, and it depends more on structure than on time. Fixes that unblock access (robots.txt, structured data, llms.txt) count almost immediately on the next crawl. Being cited consistently requires content that answers the right questions plus reputation confirmed by third parties, and that builds over three to six months. The window is still open: most competitors have not started.
Does GEO work for local businesses?
It does, and this is where the effect tends to arrive fastest. When someone asks an AI “which [service] do you recommend near me”, the model cross-references the website, the Google Business Profile, reviews and mentions to pick two or three brands. A local business with a complete profile, answered reviews and consistent information across channels has an immediate edge over competitors whose data disagrees, and it competes against a handful of companies, not an entire country.
